In April 2008 we decided that Highlight Films should be focused on implementing environmental-friendly standards and procedures. As a leader of our local market, but being a company that works all over the world, we believed our market leadership comes not only with benefits, but also with demands.
Almost two years after that decision, Highlight Films is an environmental friendly company:
While in April 2008 only 5% of our footage was recorded on reusable digital media, in January 2010 more than 90% of our new visual materials are filmed on reusable flash cards and memory devices.
In 2008 we shipped hundreds of DVDs and CDs to clients all over the world. Our archive and post production departments consumed thousands of one-time disks, which most of them were discarded after days or weeks. The number was decreased significantly in 2009. In 2010 we removed this expense from our budget. All our archive activity is now done over the internet. We send files as big as 5 Giga, and backup huge projects online overnight. No more expandable media!
Our annual spending on print paper decreased over 80% in the last 20 months.
Since April 2008 we have supported several documentary projects that focused on the environment. We continue to welcome producers and directors who develop such themes, and make all possible efforts to give them the best services we provide for the lowest cost.
We are now in the midst of producing Dead Sea Dying – an Israeli–Palestinian–Jordanian documentary coproduction telling the sad story of the environmental catastrophe of the Dead Sea. Arte and Radio Canada have joined this project, which will be completed by the beginning of 2011.
A few weeks ago we announced the beginning of The Ambassador, a documentary project following wildlife photographer Amos Nachoum in his expeditions to the Canada Arctic and the Pacific Ocean, as he encounters the biggest marine predators. This film will be released in Fall 2011.
We believe it is our responsibility to provide our children with a better world. Professionally, we are ready to take any challenge that will allow us to contribute to a better environment, and hopefully will show others the way to aspire to the same goal.

Highlight Films produces personal video biographies for individuals who would like to turn their memories and their life story into films. This new strand has been developing over the last few years, and we have a lot of experience in researching and producing these personal videos for both Israelis and people from other parts of the world who would like to include their experiences in Israel in their biography video.
These videos are produced in total discretion. Only our clients decide who sees their video biography. We film all over the world, pending the locations and the approved script, and we edit in Israel.
The personal video biography is produced in the same ways and methods we produce a broadcaster-commissioned film. We film with high definition cameras, in order to keep it in the best video format available. The main difference from the TV documentaries we produce is that our client is the executive producer of the video. He or she decides what will be included in the final video and what will be left out.
We produce mainly two time frameworks: a 7-10 minutes video, usually for the purpose of screening in front of larger audiences in significant occasions, and a 40-50 minutes video which is usually more personal and is used for smaller, more intimate viewing.
For more information and quotes about our personal video biography production, please email us.
